If the hallway is very narrow a barn door may be a problem as well. If she is in a walker, the door may be too heavy for her, and if it is light you may have a problem with it jumping the track. You might consider a bi-fold door which fits inside of the doorway when closed, as long as the doorway is still large enough for the walker, and possibly a future wheelchair, when it is open. If you own the house and this is long term, you might consider enlarging the door. Suggestions: Make sure that you have a high toilet. Leg, hip and knee problems increase the probability of falling onto the toilet. The knees should be level with, or below, the hips when seated. Also, a sink with a shallow cabinet will increase floor space for walkers or wheelchairs. It is also helpful to have something to grab or lean on when trying to stand up from the toilet. Over-the-toilet shelves are easier and safer to access than under-the-sink.
Agree again with Pitpond1-best solution, in my opinion, is increasing the size of the door. I believe a bifold might decrease the door entry. A barn door might decrease the size of an already narrow hallway.
This should help.
