How do you change the handle/lock on security screen door?

My screen is probably about 25-30 years old and still looks good, but the lock has never worked so I use a hook and eye to close it fully. This means I have to pull it tight to get the hook in the eye. The other day, the handle just snapped in two and I'm having trouble getting someone out to fix it. Thanks for your time

Try YouTube! you may have to get a new door if it's THAT old and in bad condition

Take a photo of what is broken and go to Home Depot, Lowes, or Menard's . They have replacement parts/hardware for all types of doors. They are all different.

I would still recommend a professional, just because of the age of the door. We had our local locksmith in Meadowbank help us decide on the right lock. My husband tried going to the local store, but because of the age of the door ended up coming home with the wrong one. Anyway, hope you have it settled soon.
