In the past, I have used a plastic lid and placed it over a photo of what I wanted to use for a cookie cutter, cut out the inside, and then used this as a cookie cutter. Place this over your dough and carve it out with a sharp knife. Give it a try.
If you just want to make a round cookie, you can use a tuna can, or a drinking glass.
I've pulled off the metal cutting edge of plastic wrap/ aluminum foil, then shaped it into what I wanted. Worked pretty good. Be careful of the "teeth". be sure they are down and doing the cutting!
