Get a clear glass plate and decoupage on the back side of it. I don't think decoupage is food safe. Hand wash
Decopauge is NOT FOOD SAFE.WHEN DECORATING ANY GLASS EITHER WITH Paint or paper it will need to be done underneath only
Martha this will give you tons of ideas. And yes, you can eat from decoupaged plates. That said, doing it underneath glass plates is the safest.

Or use a food-quality sealer. ☺️
Decoupage is an art so you would want to do it on the back but most cake plates have a stand in the middle so you would want two or more separate elements to decorate your cake plate. This decoupaged plate would be food safe as elements are on the back. Decoupage must be hand washed though. This plate was assembled thusly: first on back of glass: hand painted gold stripes, then cut out parrots then white painted background.
WOW! so many ideas. Thanks for the link!
Good to know. Thank you.
If you decopauge a letter to a plate do it on the bottom of the plate. Then you can eat off the top and not be concerned. It would not eat off the decoupauge
I would use a clear glass plate and decoupage from underneath to be safest.
Lowe's carries Watley Butcher Block Oil and Sealer for under $12, and 511 Spray Grout Sealent for under $10. Both are food safe and clear. 😇
That is the info I am looking for. Item, Place, Price...you have it all. Thanks so much!
