Is Creeping Charlie in your lawn a good thing or a bad thing?
Is there a sure-fire way to get rid of Creeping Charley?
Anything that will block the sun and last through weather will work. I’ve used left over plywood to kill ivy. Worked like a charm!
Landscape fabric is pretty affordable and you can cover it with a thick layer of clean wheat straw (which can get pricey) or find free ‘mulch’ by getting a local tree cutting service to dump a load of wood chips, or a few loads of sawdust if you have a local sawmill that is reasonably priced. Have a neighbor with lots of pine trees? Ask if they mind if you take up the pine needles and haul them to your yard.
I hope that helps spark some ideas.

A black plastic tarp or really anything that won’t let light thru and not let water thru. I had some metal siding laying around that I used in some areas on my property with a few heavy brick so the wind wouldn’t blow it away! Had some old carpet, it didn’t work completely, some weeds eventually grew up thru the carpet but were very easy to pull!
Weed killer/or newspaper) then weed suppressing membrane, then cover in Shingle or gravel............
Ask an appliance store for refrigerator or other empty large Appliance boxes. Cut them open and pave the area with them. If you live in a windy area sprinkle with your hose or use a few rocks to hold it down.
Heavy black plastic is the cheapest way to kill off the grass
thick cardboard (like from broken down boxes)
