What a cute area! We just recently re-surfaced our play area. The area was first leveled, then very heavy weed barrier placed over the surface, then topped with 3" of fairly smooth gravel. Gravel seemed to provide the most cushy surface for our budget. Before doing this we looked into: artificial turf, sand, and both solid and loose recycled rubber surfaces. Even posted a help question on Hometalk for ideas. Issues with all of these options. When I was a kid we played on a gravel area with no problems, so, especially considering the cost, gravel was our choice. Your area may be small enough that you can afford the rubber mats (interlocking or poured). Good luck. Please let us know what your choice is and how it works for you.
How about sand. Lay plastic and cover with play sand. How fun would that be.
Yikes, with sand it would be a nightmare trying to keep it from tracking into the house. It will get into everything- clothing, toys, food.......
You can lay down some rubber mat tiles
Gee tnx to all for answering. I think gravel would be the answer cos sand would be crazy and carried indoors hehe not my cuppa tea.
Tnk u all again 😁
