-Go to your Profile/Account Settings/Email Settings and unclick all the categories that you no longer want to receive emails about.
-Go to your Profile/Account Settings/Discussions and click 'No' to receiving any emails about discussions

You can also deactivate your Hometalk account entirely by:
-Go to your Profile/Account Settings/Account Status, and click Deactivate Account
