My vote is for tin tiles?
You can purchase plastic squares that look like the old-time metal ceilings of long ago. They appear to be easy to install because they are very light weight and can be cut with heavy duty scissors to fit to your space. They can also be spray painted. They're available at Home Depot, Lowes, and other big box stores where home maintenance/building products are sold.
you can get ceiling tiles that are metal. Go to your local home improvement store and ask if they have metal or tin ceiling tile.
I think the plastic tiles look great and are a very easy diy project. The tin tiles are gorgeous but pretty expensive. Happy decorating!
I used these from Lowe's Home Improvement, they are not real tin, but they look it (Fasade 18.5-in x 24.5-in Cross Hatch Silver Thermoplastic Backsplash
Item # 240793 Model # B50-21). It was really easy and quick to do, it only took a day to do the whole kitchen.
