Metal beam = Box it out with wood and decorate as ceiling.
If it is already trimmed in wood or sheetrock, just paint it the same color as the ceiling so it isn't so noticeable.
Hello. You can box it in with wood. You can paint or stain the wood.
There are 2 ways I can think of, the easiest way is to make it the same color as the rooms to be joined.
The other way is more expensive and a major project. That is to remove the beam and put it up in the header above the ceiling which would create a continual flat ceiling between the rooms.
If you need more support, maybe consider pillars/posts/columns to support the beam enclosed in the header.
Make sure you get a structural engineer to size the beam you will need. Some videos on flush beams. A little more work then surface beams.

Easiest thing to do is to paint it the same color at the rest of the ceiling. That should make it blend into the ceiling more.
