Do you have any ventilation in the bathroom?
do you have an exhaust fan? get some kills if it comes back you need a pro BLACK MOLD is a health problem.
Not enough ventilation. Don’t paint over the mold. you need to kill the mold before painting. Then paint with oil based Kilz. Get a exhaust fan and open window and door and pull back the curtain after a shower. You may even need to dry the shower after each use. Take out the wet towels. You could also try a dehumidifier.
You have black mold that is a health hazard. I would suggest you remove the ceiling. Just cleaning it off the surface and repainting will not eradicate it. Use a mask while working with the ceiling. Then figure out why it is growing in your ceiling then fix that issue.
Check Dr. Oz's site. There was a lady on there who sprayed mold with straight white vinegar, (I think). She may have diluted it. I believe she said to leave it on for an hour. For further details, check the site.
I agree with Sal. You aren't going to be able to clean this mold or stop it's growth by painting with Kilz. The mold has already penetrated deeplyi into the ceiling material so the ceiling needs to be removed and replaced.
The mold is growing because of moisture from humidity. You're going to need to find a way to get some ventilation in there to keep it from growing back on your new ceiling.
Please do this ASAP. Black mold can infect your respiratory system.
after you remove the mold & re paint ...buy a DE-HUMIDIFIER. Leave it running constantly. They sell counter top ones.
That is was is causing the mildew, you have to use a fan of sort the keep the area dry.Clean the mildew with white vinegar
Buy a bottle of "Mold Control". We've had to clean up mold in our bathroom before. (It's sold in home improvement stores in the U.S. so hopefully you can find it as well.) It doesn't have an overpowering odor like bleach does. It comes in an easy to use white spray bottle. No scrubbing is required. All you do is spray directly onto the mold spores. Mold loves dark, damp areas. After you cover it in Mold Control place a fan in the room to help circulate the air and dry that area up. Also, get a light source. The brighter the better! Shine it directly on the mold for as long as you can. Then basically you just babysit it for a few days reapplying the Mold Control to spots that are being stubborn. My husband is a Firefighter/Haz-Mat tech. When the environmental company he works for has to go clean up mold they buy cases of Mold Control. If you do the above combined steps, like they do, it will get rid of it.
**Side note: PLEASE NEVER EVER scrape or sand black mold! I know it may seem like a good idea to scrape it off to get it to go away. For jobs that require anything like that my husband has to wear a heavy respirator mask to do so. Scraping black mold makes it angry and disperses its spores and can make you really sick! I'm not trying to scare you. I am also a firefighter. Taking care of people is what I do. I would rather you be informed than sick.**
Best of luck, now go kick that molds butt
Looks like black mold to me....whoa.
Hello,
You need more ventilation and air flow. Open window before use and install an extractor fan!
