We too have birds, but the only problem I have had is with the really strong odors like freshly applied cologne and air fresheners. As long as the bird is in another room, it should be fine. Bleach odor is not that strong, not is vinegar. I used Muriatic acid on my sons toilet once and his blue and gold macaw was about fifteen feet away in another room. I shut his door and the bathroom door and opened windows and used a fan to keep the odor flowing towards the bathroom window and he was just fine. We use those wax melting units in the living room not but six feet away from the conure and he is fine, but don't use the real strong floral wax melts. One of my daughters friends did kill a conure I had by spraying on cologne as she passed by his cage. When she lived at home after that she was nasty on what her friends did from then on. Nobody could put on cologne or after shave or anything until they left the house and made no bones on telling them why. Her friend never did own up to what she did. It really does take a strong odor that is near the cage, bleach in the kitchen or bathroom will not hurt. I don't stop using cleaners, they are usually low enough odor to not hurt them.
Barkeepers friend........
Try vinegar and water or borax in your water. There are also products made by method made naturally without harsh odors.
Baking soda and Vinegar; or any 'ECO' friendly product -- Method, Mrs. Meyers, Grove, etc.

I get a product called Mrs. Meyers all purpose cleaner. I only know where to get it online, but its an all natural cleaner and works great. It does have a fragrance, at least the one I have, geraniums, I believe it is. its kind of strong, but its natural oils rather than chemicals.
