You could use some clear patterned Contac paper. Would let the light in yet the pattern distorts the view into the house. They now make a easier to remove Contac paper--sold at Walmart--that is somewhat easier to work with. It is thinner so you need to be a little more careful when smoothing it down. You can remove it without leaving much sticky residue behind. Or you can buy window film in different patterns at places like Menards or Home Depot that might do the trick.
You might want to do a faux stained glass over the side lights or windows. Sheer curtains give privacy in the daytime. Or do a faux bubble glass over any glass like you can buy to put on bathroom windows. They just go up like stickers but look real.

There are some beautiful window films. This company has many beautiful ones. Or you can just search window films online. There are so many choices.

I used Gallery Glass in Crystal Clear. I actually poured some in a bowl and dabbed it on really thick with my fingers. I love it. At first you will say this looks terrible, but give it overnight to dry and you will be amazed. Here is a picture of one of my side lights. Everything is distorted when you're out looking in and you can see a little distortion when inside looking out. If you find it's not private enough you can always apply more once it dries. I love this stuff. It lets the light in as well.
Put a patterned, sticky vinyl on the glass.
Privacy film that you can cut to size
You can paint them with special spray paint to make the opaque.
