Don't park the compost bin near the house, and make sure you add soil and dampening it and turn often. You can also get a bag of compost and add that to try and encourage your pile

Hey there.I have beautiful gardens and lawn without using any killers. Ok what i did the first time is chicken wired a 5 ft circle than in the kitchen got a glass jar that has a cover and saved all vegie and egg shells until full n put in compost.When you mow your lawn grass clippings aregreat too if you put no chemicals on it.You can add leaves to it too.I like to put green n brown in my compostmeaning brown leaves and green vegs and grass clippings.You dont need a huge one either.Start ot out n then grow from there.Eventually we bought a compost container which is working fine.In dry weather spells dump some water in thete it helps tobreak it down.Then in the spring when it is not frozen anymore take from the bottom n it will be smelly black gold! Ok heres another one i dotoo.I got a small plastic baby pool and i get cow manure u can get in bags and chicken manure .I have 10 chickens and if u can get horse manure thats great too! I put all that in the pool with some compost fill it with water n let it sit in the sun when its warm out n make poop soup lol.It actually bubbles. This magic liquid can be put around established plant, trees,ect and Bam the plants take off! When putting it down wiwash it in with the hose too get it. Into the ground.I wish you luck!

Ps. No meat in composbecause it rots n will attract critters otherwise i have no problems with critters.

I have a compost tumbler. a small one. back porch tumbler is what it’s called...in the spring I used it to tumble soil mix for my potted garden, then it gets the veggie debri at canning time, and grass clippings. It’s a bit pricy 189$ range. But then for me it does dual purpose, and it‘s hung arround for 20 yrs or so.
