It used to be full of blooms but for the past 2 years of so it has not bloomed at all. I would also like to know how to re-pot a different Christmas cactus it has gotten way to big for it's pot. What kind of potting mixture can I use?

Some reasons plants don't bloom are: too much water, not enough water, incorrect ambient temperature and/or humidity, lack of nutrients, use of incorrect fertilizers, being moved just before budding, being root bound, not being root bound...if your cactus has not been moved, there has been no other change in its habitat or your routine it may need some top dressing...adding prepared cactus soil added to its container at the top. It may also need to be repotted. You can purchased bagged potting mix for cactus and succulents just about anywhere. The thing with these plants is they don't grow roots fast and they do not spread their roots so when repotting choose a pot no more than one inch bigger than what it is currently in. Also, avoid using containers that can't breathe such as painted or plastic. Basic terra cotta (unpainted) with the drainage hole in the bottom are the best containers for cactus and succulents.
