plant the raspberries near a fence- it does 2 things- lets you tie up the canes to support them, and keeps the neighborhood kids out of the yard.
Raspberries like sun and moisture to give you the best fruit.
Here is how I would approach the transfer, provided you live in similar climates. Make note of where they are currently placed on your dad's property and soil condition. Then find similar conditions on your property. Will work for both raspberries and peonies.
Put the raspberries in a sunny location but also an area where you can eradicate the excess that will spread. I did a berry garden for one of my clients and we did rows with poles at each end and hung wire/string up about 4' from the ground to drape and train the trailing creepers.
Full sun, and know that they spread like crazy, popping up new plants from buried roots, like vines. In Conn. I had to dig down 12” to bury concrete pavers turned on their side to contain them. You can also purchase thornless raspberries and blackberries. Don’t forget to shhield them from hungry birds!
Full sun and I like to place mine in raised beds, I do the same with my blackberries because our temperatures are extremely hot in the summer and it helps maintain moisture.
Where do you live> I have an area waiting for them.
Location for raspberry plants???? Mu back yard.
