I am laying flagstone out side for a patio area and I would like it to be done so I do not have to keep redoing it every year.

Grout is something that has to be renew periodically. I would clean out all of the old grout and sweep in dry mortar mix then sprinkle with water. It should last 5 to ten years depending on your winters.

make sure you lay landscape fabric beneath. Weeds are so clever. grout with small stones with a clear exterior epoxy? Poured over them to seal.

If you live in the north or where it freezes in the winter, you may have some trouble with the expansion and contraction in the winter that may crack the grout. Where I live, I would probably have to go with sand between them, our driveway goes up and down with the change of seasons. It sometimes makes it hard to shovel.

Thanks nancy, I live in northern AZ in the western area, it gets about 105 in the summer but we have the monsoons and usually the winters have not been bad. Just needing to redo some stones on my pathway.

You need to use the correct type of concrete mortar for this job.
