Sure you can! Check with your local extension office or plant nursery for any amendments that may be needed for your soil beofre planting your veggies/fruits. Or you could build raised garden beds using the appropriate soil/amendents which would make planting & harvesting easier on your back and help prevent certain pests from invading your garden.

Gardening in containers can let you control the type of soil and amount of water retention (sandy soil drains water away fast).... plus you don't have to weed on your knees... we live in AZ.... sand is what we do here.

I would go with raised beds or container garden.you control the soil that way.acid for what likes it sweet for others .

Mix in equal amounts potting soil, peat moss and manure and you should have soil that is rich and still well draining due to the sand tilled in with the amendments. You may have to do the same for a few years, but it will stay more rich soil each year.
