one of the best things I’ve done is to get a pro make up a plan, suggest plants and an alternatives to it. And where to put them. It didn’t cost all that much for a plan...and i found my own plants or started with seeds. There are pre designed plans on the internet posted by better homes and gardens. The other thing I did was to use a video camera to tape the garden area from sun up to sun down. It shows were shade hit’s and where the most sun hit.
We need more info in order to be able to help....like, your location (planting zone); purpose for the yard (kids, relaxing, ’rooms’ for different uses); how much gardening you want to etc
Use prairie grass! It is low maintenance and gorgeous.
