Could you put it in netting and hang it from the wall or ceiling in the garage or a laundry room?
Try getting a small fishing net. Hang a hook on the ceiling, keep one part of the net open and just put the ball in there.
Will it fit in a large footstool cube? Or maybe in the bottom of a throw/blanket basket? Good luck.
Hello! Taking an idea from Moms who store their kids’ toys in a corner of their room, use a colorful sheet — one that blends in with the color on your living room walls — and use it in one corner to hang the ball out of the way. Fold the sheet in half and then in half again and tack it across the corner. The ball will be up and out of sight. Good luck!
If you have a corner, or a bare section of wall, you and your mom could build a table the right height and width for the ball to go under. Attach some fabric that goes with the décor in your living room with Velcro or some other way that makes it easy to get the ball out from under the table. You could put a plant on the table and make it look like it belongs in the living room. He could store the yoga pad under the couch or on top of the yoga ball. He is still working his butt of to provide for you and your mom, make it easy for him to relax and help his relax his back. I am sure that still working at his age is keeping him fit and healthy. Since he only thinks of himself with his yoga ball, and others with everything else, make it as easy as you can to enjoy what down time he has. Kudos for you trying to find a way to include his yoga ball in the living room. My mom probably would have made my dad keep it in the basement no matter where he used it!
If looking at yoga ball and mat is the price your Mom has to pay for having healthy physically active Dad/alive spouse/steady wage earner especially at age 75! I would say it is a small price. There are folks half his age who are not able to do what he does just because they are so unfit.
Be proud of your Dad and his life accomplishments.
He will not be with you forever.
Encourage him to take continue taking care of himself, and move the yoga stuff to the bedroom when company come over.
Find a cardboard box it will all fit into. Decorate it, paint it, decoupage it to fit in with the decor of the living room. Then it is out of sight but handy! Maybe cut one side of the box so it can be raised and the ball simply rolls out for use. Get creative, maybe cover the box with fabric so it fits right in...that might satisfy you & your mom's need for it to disappear but still keep it in the room for dad's use. Your dad sounds like a jewel of a guy!
