How to get sand in beach and shells in a upside down wine glass?

i looked at the tutorial from the response above. It didn’t really answer the question as to how you get the sand on the bottom and the shells on top. I would put my shells in the wine glass (right side up). Then the sand on toP. Hot glue a cardboard top cut to size or a cute tea saucer and flip over.

how about gluing the shells to the cardboard first. In order to get the sand below, you could "prop" the shells at different heights, with broken shells or pebbles (these items will be covered by the sand.

I am assuming you are trying to make a display of shells etc. in loose sand. Perhaps you could mix glue into some of the sand you are going to use (keeping in mind that you will then have a limited length of time to complete your project). You could make a "cuff" to hold your sand in place, or perhaps use a jar lid that is smaller than the opening of the glass, lining the lid with waxed paper so your sand won't stick to the lid. Arrange your display in the sand. Once it is dry put some loose sand in the glass, place tape over the bottom of your display making certain everything is fully stuck to the sand/glue mixture and hang it in the glass using the tape "tabs" you left on your tape, then put whatever platform you are going to place the glass on over the open end of the glass, turn it rightside up and you should have your display with loose sand to cover your glue/sand mixture. You will have to cut away the tape once it is on your platform. I would suggest that you put a groove in the platform that the lip of the glass will fit into to cover the tape that might still be visible after you have cut off the tape overhangs. One caveat: You will have to make certain that the loose sand is clean and will not stick to the sides of the glass.
