Looking for portulaca plants watering advice

I've planted around 300 portulaca plants in miracle grow potting mix. The plants are around a quarter inch height. Do I need to keep them well watered or let them dry a little? There sitting just a few feet from the fireplace..

I don't know what a portulaca plant is. The soil should help them adapt to an irregular watering schedule. The fireplace may tend to dry out soil. The tag that came with the plants should tell you the care required.
They like to dry in between watering but not for long. They need lots of light too
They prefer a dry soil
