How do you remove sun tint film from windows?

Previous home owner applied 2 layers of tint to my bedroom picture window. The top layer was peeling off, so I took that layer off, it left an adhesive residue, and now the layer that’s left is off in some places looking terrible! I’m going to use sun screens instead of the nasty tint. Any ideas? I tried a blow dryer, that didn’t help!

I saw a trick the car guys use to remove old tint from car windows, they spray it with 409 cleaner and fit a piece of black plastic over it using squeegee in the sun. Hi Mary, that sounds like a mess! Well, my first thought was the blow dryer, but that didn’t do it for you.
Have you tried sudsy water? If you put a little degreasing dish soap in a bucket of water and get it nice and sudsy, then use a sponge and apply it to the sticky tint-let it sit.
Come at it first with a scrubber sponge and see what comes off. If you need to do it again, ok, time to get yourself a window scraper. Meant to take paint, etc off of windows. If THAT doesn’t work, hmmm 🤔.
Try spraying some WD40 on the residue, let sit for a while and then scrape off with the glass scraper or a razor blade. Be careful not to scratch the glass. Put some paper towels down on the sill before spraying.
