I put the plastic shrink on my windows - now I'm wondering if it can be easily removed come spring? Maybe alcohol to loosen the tape residue? Have others put these on every winter and taken off in spring? Thank you!

Yes ! Shrink wrap on your windows come off easily. Have used it for years in different houses I have lived in.

It shouldn't be a problem, you might have to clean the area underneath them once they're off

The adhesive that came with the product ripped the finish off the wood.

I had that happen as well. you may need to remove what's left of the finish in that area and try to match the stain/ color for a new finish. next year- go slightly over the window with and secure with blue wide painters tape. the painters tape generally won't take finishes off.

I put the plastic shrink wrap on all my windows after putting my curtains back up it cannot be seen, I used to take it all off come spring then thought how foolish. Now I only take it off the windows I like to open, saves me time and money

That's what I was thinking - some windows just have to have that breeze in good weather.

But attaching it to the window is not going to keep the warm air in/cold air out. It's the area where the frame meets the wall that needed the extra cover. I went outside this summer, and used a silicone gun and went around every inch of every window frame. I also used glazing putty (in the "gun") on each pane of glass. Thank goodness I have a one story house! As for the inside finish? I bought wider curtains! :) Thanks for the reply, Dfm.

I've used the shrink wrap for years. If you just pull it off, either the tape will stay on the frame and yellow and look ugly, or the tape will pull off the paint. So...take a hair dryer and warm the tape, and then it should pull off nicely. The shrink wrap really helps keep our heating bills down,.
