Yard has became a large mud pit - help!

Cars and Tractors killed the grass. It's a clay type dirt so hen it rains.... mud pit. I plan on planting grass seed. What else can I do to toughen up the ground?

What about sand ???
willow trees soak up lots of water and will dry out the soil. there are other trees and succulents that will help too,
Lay a grid (Concrete or Plastic ) and sow grass seed on top

You want to break up the soil for planting. Use straw, topsoil and sand to cover the grass seed and help soften the clay. Put sand and topsoil on the area twice yearly for 3 years to help the grass roots have aiir to grow.
