I use non-toxic Victors, EcoSmart or EcoLogic ant spray.... they are either mint or lemongrass oil. Kills on contact, and if you wipe the residue on the surfaces it repels them. Makes the house smell good too.

There are ant baits by Terro that you do not spray or touch with your hands. Available at Ace Hardware and probably Home Depot or Lowes.

Plant some spearmint, make a strong tea of the leaves, put in a spray bottle 1/1 with water and spray your entrances. It will repel them from entering your house and keep them away from your garden.

Cinnamon- simply sprinkle some cinnamon in the main affected areas to repel ants from coming into your kitchen or house in general.
