Time to call in an exterminator - not as expensive as you might think. Many times the inspection is free. Do not be pressured into purchasing services you do not really need either.

Ants don't like the smell of peppermint. Use peppermint oil or peppermint extract where the trails are.
Eucalyptus oil will make them leave your house. Strategically place cotton balls or small pieces of paper towel with some of the oil applied. Be careful though to use only a small amount - the smell is very strong.
Use the ant killer Terro, I bought mine at Target. The Ants take the bait back to the colony and it kills them all.
COFFEE GROUNDS to get rid of ants. I always save grounds and let them dry. Sprinkle where the ants are "bugging" you and...no more ants.
Sprinkle dry cinnamon in the area
If you can find their trail (ant line) into the house or hole into the wall sprinkle with Peppermint &/or Cinnamon Essential oil, or a good Cinnamon powder. The purer the better. The ants don't like the smell so if you spread it across their trail line they will find a new home or route to get where they want to go.
Terro is a wonderful ant bait available at Ace, Lowes, and Home Depot. You might have a nest behind the wall. I had a nest behind the under-sink cabinets many yrs. ago between outer wall and aluminum siding.
