When the plant no longer holds moisture or the roots are showing at the bottom of the pot is when it is time to re-pot in the next size container

  • If it is flourishing and budding, leave it alone for now. I typically repot all houseplants into fresh soil every spring. Not everyone does. Once the flowering season is over, check the roots. If it is rootbound, time to repot!

When plants outgrow their container they get root bound. You can lift it up and check if you see roots filling the bottom portion. Spread the roots by hand before transplanting in a new pot. My grandma always told me to put a few small pieces of charcoal and gravel or stones in the bottom to help keep them healthy for indoor pots.

If roots are growing out of the drainage holes, it's time to repot. Make sure the new pot is 2 inches deeper & wider.
