Cut a thin piece of plywood to the proper size, glue the top, seal and paint.
what is the top made of?
Consider purchasing a plexiglass or glass table topper so this does not happen again after you choose your repair method.
Wicker can be repaired, but the craftsmen are few and far between and it is difficult to do without practice. I recommend covering it with plywood, well-sealed particle board or beadboard. If you use a lightweight plywood you could tile the top.
If you cut it out the rest of the table top will unravel. Better to dry it out and if still firm paint it with an exterior colour finish, or if weak at that point and liable to fall through, better to put a top over it.
