The spruces are beautiful because you have acidic soil which they love. Grass? Not so much. So, plant ground cover that likes the acid as much as your spruces and be happy you have such gorgeous trees.
A great ground cover may be the solution as most grass likes sunshine. Here's a few links from CSU....I know, not from UofCO/Boulder-- but CSU has an extension service that could help! :) https://www.google.com/search?q=best+ground+cover+for+shaded+area+in+Colorado%3F&rlz=1C1CHZL_enUS709US709&oq=best+ground+cover+for+shaded+area+in+Colorado%3F&aqs=chrome..69i57j69i64.15697j0j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8

Hello. Click on the link below and you will find area grasses that tolerate low shade areas. Some of them are quite beautiful and combined with a pathway of pavers or a rock garden, they will really make the space look great! Good Luck!

Yes, you have acidic soil and little to no sun. I'm surprised that moss hasn't started to grow. Moss takes time, but is a good groundcover. I like it because it doesn't have to be mowed and is green all year. Go to your local plant nursery. They can assist you with different choices of ground cover for your specific location.
I'd go with some rock and mulch landscaping creating different focal points adding a wooden crossing bridge over a dry river bed. No sun required for this beauty! Best of luck.
