I still have the jar of shells I collected on our honeymoon - that was over 30 years ago!

I glued some small ones on a picture frame of some folks for their 50th anniversary, some people put them in a clear vase or even lamp, others glue them to a mirror edge, others put some on the Letter of their first name and paint it like sea colors and so forth to make a "seaside" letter of their family name initial, I have a bunch I collected in a lead crystal dish in my hutch for a memory of our fun days in Florida, big conches I put on a hand towel to decorate a room next to a Lighthouse poem on the wall, etc. I have thought it would be fun to make a chess board or checker board with them!
I place them on top of my potted houseplants. I have 2 mirrors adorned with shells. I have candle holders and serving pieces adorned with shells. Pinterest is a great place to get ideas for projects.

I make frame and mirror frames with seashells, wooden boxes covered, and interesting glass containers filled with them. We also used to do shadow box coffee tables with sand and shells strewn in them and some driftwood and seaweed. My dad used to make some gorgeous rosewood plaques with a cut out and a half a nautilis shell mounted in it.
Make windchimes. Fill a vase with them.
Oh and I used to make fiber art wall hangings, and I would sew tiny starfish and shells onto them, along with kelp bulbs. Usually used a piece of driftwood to hang them from.
My favorite thing to do is put them in a bowl or basket and then put them where your guest can "play" with them. Anyone who loves shells cannot resist looking thru them. I had an over abundance of of white shells and I used a blue Sharpie to make them more art-like. I have also put some of my best shells in a shadow box, I just used clear caulk to hold them in place.
