Don't do it as it will always peel or fade. Better to add colour by Window Boxes and Bright colour or Pastel shades.
Check your warranty---it may have something about cracking, fading, etc. Otherwise you should take the advice above. Give it a good powerwash, add color with flowers, maybe a colorful chair on the front porth or a large planter with red geraniums and sweet potato vines---something simple can pack a big color punch to the view,

wash with siding cleaner - bottom to top. choose a color no darker than the original color. choose a paint specifically made for vinyl. pick the sheen you want (eggshell /satin/semi gloss. the higher the sheen - the easier dirt can be hosed off). paint 2 coats (avoid painting in the sun or windy days. the paint dries to fast). Benjamin Moore, PPG, and Sherwin Williams are good choices
Call the Sherwin Williams hotline and ask which of their products would work best for the application and location. 🌷
Check with Lowes or Home Depot and they will have all the answers .
These people will know their stuff.

Sherwin Williams has developed an additive for paint that gives you the option of using darker colors over lighter vinyl.
Ask at your local hardware store that sells paint. There is a paint specifically for this purpose. We painted some replacement siding 3 years ago and it still looks great.
Hello Kat! I say... "Live a little!." I think we can all benefit from some color in our lives, and it doesn't have to be in the form of a flower. =) If you want to BIG, go for it! Use a power washer first. Rent a paint sprayer from a Home Improvement store. Lightly sand, buy the appropriate paint for siding, and save yourself hundreds buy doing it yourself. You'll be surprised at the actual longevity.
There are paints now specifically made for painting viny siding, but remember to buy a really, really good quality paint with primer mixed in! I would wash the outside really well with a pressure washer to remove dust, mold and dirt and use plants and window boxes to add color and character. Change the color of your shutters....we just did and just that change made a huge differenc! Way, way less expensive! Check your warranty if it is cracking, broken or pealing. There are so many ways to go with this neutral color......once you paint the vinyl, you will always have to paint! That's something only known to people who have painted their vinyl! It happened to some friends! Living in Florida makes it even harder because of the intensity and length of the summers!
Do what you want its your house,
You will have to use a special paint that has a bonding agent in it in order for it to adhere to the vinyl and not peel off.
Wash it down good with TSP ( Found at hardware or home improvement stores ) and then paint with any good outdoor paint.
I painted vinyl siding 15 years ago and still looks great. make sure it's really clean and free of detergent residue . use a bonding primer for plastic/vinyl. I believe I used glidden "grabber" as I use that on everything-you can have that tinted to close to the final color. use a good quality paint similar to the existing color- 2 coats. not guaranteeing this, but this is what I did
I am not sure about how to paint vinyl siding but here is a post that will help you pick a color. https://lifeonsummerhill.com/popular-sherwin-williams-exterior-paint/

Window planters would be a great way to add color and curb appeal.
