I keep my printer ink in one. Tablet chargers and wires in another. Extra vitamins in another. Be good for Lego and other small toys. I use them as they are since my health is bad, but you could s pray paint and label. Decopage, etc.. I also keep one in my kitchen with small packet spices, etc.. Dry beans in another. I have one square tin that has dividers. Good place for junk drawer things.

Paint or decoupage for magnetic message board or i made two for my kids to use on road trips. One has got roads painted on and they have a little box of hot wheels that I glued little magnets to. The other I glued a one of those big flat Lego pieces to and they have a small box of legos in the car to go with
They can be a ideal place to put kids toys, and stack them on a shelf. If that's not the case, use them for momentous items. If you bake for the holidays, give them as a house gift. People seem to bring liquor, which is not a gift for the hostess, but this can be put out on the table for everyone to enjoy.
