I saw one of the DIY TV shows... put up 2x4 frames with wire cable as the weave inside... to make large scale trellises... painted them in a bright color and then run colorful climbing plants (they used bougainvillea) with a vertical bush or trees in between... paint the existing fence a neural darker color like dark gray or brown... that would help it to fade into the background and leave the new plantings to be the focus
Fresh coat of paint or mural, then some hanging planters bout 3-5ft apart with alternating heights n maybey some rectangular planters along base
I would paint it a dark green or dark brown to blend more with the trees in the background, and then I would make a flower bed in front, using curves in the bed and plant some shrubs with height, spacing them apart, and plnat smaller shrubs in between. Then add Perennials and annuals (flowers) in front of the shrubs. You could make a focal point with a tiered fountain or large statue, and plan your shrubs around that.

It would be neat to paint an "extension" of the pool scene. Maybe with lounges etc. Or what about a "clothes line with swimming suits and beach towels"? We live fairly near the ocean and this is part of our yard mural.
