How do I replace a roof shingle.

A passing storm ripped two shingles, in different places, off my roof. They are both on the downward side of vent pipes and I can see the metal flashing from the ground. Unfortunately, I can't get a good picture. Do those spots need underlay also and can I use liquid nails?

Husband would removed several around area damaged and replace with shingle nails just to make sure there will be no leak.

Since you are thinking of using liquid nails to fix your roof you should call a roofer. You don't want to risk thousands of dollars of water damage caused by an improper repair. Call a roofer.
Are you sure a shingle is missing? Typically you would see the metal flashing below the vent pipe anyway.
Thank you everyone. In my own best interest I'm getting a roofer to do this. It's far too big a project to undertake with my limited construction knowledge.
