Ugly garage walls, need help
How can I make my garage look more finished without paying someone to tape and spray? I am tired of the ugly sheetrock and looming at all the seams and screws.
Sails! Across the back ! Pretty lightweight colors might do nicely! Good luck 🍀!
Canvas or burlap attached to pvc pipe with curtain rings. Attach the pvc pipe with pipe connectors to the wood. Canvas can be purchased in bulk at fabric stores. If you plan to use burlap, soak in water first to shrink before using. Spray paint the pvc the color of the curtain rings, and both fabrics can be stained or painted or left for more of a natural look. Good luck.
Powerwash the pergola. Then stain or whitewash with a very good quality Exterior product, even Marine, depending on your weather. Staining and whitewashing don’t need perfection, unlike paint. You could even do a light gray.
Curtains, as below, are great. You can hang them from wire, pipe or colored pvc.

note these are 108” long. other companies offer as well, om Amazon, but pay attention to the length. Short looks awful.
Maybe bamboo grown in large planters, bamboo is an invasive plant so do not plant directly in the ground. Good luck with your project!!
All the other replies sound good. I would paint the top beams and the upright columns the same color to lighten and unite them. I'd love to have this pergola. I've been lobbying my husband for one for several years. Please post a photo when you are done with your project. :-)
Why's it ugly? 😄Its beautiful! I love it just like it is! I can't be the only one...
Hi, I think the columns need to match the rest. If they were squared off with wood they would not be so obvious and blend in. Then curtains or something across the back to clean up the look. Curtain suggestion was great and I looked them up affordable too. Then a loveseat with coloful pillows. Good luck. Great suggestions from all.
You will need to remove or at least trim the vines that have grown on the pergola roof and then add lattice to the roof to support the vines. Not sure why you planted vines in the first place... did you want shade? If you really dislike the vines, replace them! Use outdoor fabric that is woven and draped nicely between pergola rafters (unless you live in Florida.. fabric will mold in a short time and get yucky). Lattice would still be a good option in this case--also look at some bamboo screening material. Use other potted plants for greenery.
Inexpensive roll-up shades, the kind that are bamboo, or something made to look like it, or, if curtains, consider a fabric shower curtain, the kind that doesn't need a liner. That would be really easy to take down and wash.
You could also use lattice with very small openings.
