Ok, so do you need to know how to build a deck or are you asking for ideas to add value? The only advice I can offer at this time is to first go to your town or city planning commission to find out what the limitations are for your area. They may have them online. For instance I have to be 30 ft from the sidewalk, that's a lot of lawn as far as I'm concerned but that's our law. So look into that then please give us some direction as to what it is you are asking.

before you get started, go price out the elements you need to add a deck. Then check with your insurance company. Will they cover workmen on your property?

Sorry, I should have been more specific. I am looking for pictures of smaller ranch homes with an added wooden deck. I am thinking of maybe doing this instead of having the little one step porch I have. I didn't have enough space to write that in my post. I took out some bushes on either side of my front step, which is right in the middle of the house. I thought maybe about putting a narrower deck (only as far out as the stoop, which is about 3 or 4 feet, along the front of the whole house or maybe just from the current stoop to the of the house on one side. Looking for diy ideas and pictures. Thank you for the answers i have received.
