If you are wanting a patio that is enclosed for privacy rather than a sunroom type enclosure, 4x8 sheets of lattice make a lovely patio area. Simple enclose both sides of the lattice sheets with 2x4 lumber, making the vertical boards your foundation post that are secured in the ground with cement. Either seal the lumber with a waterproofing product or paint in your color of choice to coordinate with your home's exterior. It is much easier to paint the lattice sections and support pieces before you install them. Then you will have only minimal touching up to do after it is installed. We did this several years ago and put brackets for hanging plants on the 4"flat support board surface and added several ferns and shade loving plants in hanging baskets and the area is very serene and relaxing. You could also hang some citronella candles for misquote if they are a problem in your area.
