Cleaning the inner rubber on Washing Machine??

I religiously wipe the inner rubber of my machine at the bottom of the door BUT today I was disgusted with myself to find that the rubber all round is black with dirt. I have scrubbed with a scourer and cream cleanser but can't seem to shift it. Also used bleach but no good. It's all ingrained in the weird shaped rubber seal. Any ideas please?? I feel such a mucky pup!!

I've used vinegar for this- and lot of repetition and elbow grease. Its tough but worth it

I'd also say to be extra careful once its clean to keep the door to your washing machine open when not in use so that it doesnt gather mildew again

I always keep the door open but despite this, I find that eventually the mold smell starts again. There is always some crud or gook that accumulates at the center, bottom, of the rubber ring. In desperation I saturated a rag with vinegar and stuffed it at that spot, leaving it there for quite a few hours. I then washed away the vinegar and hopefully the crud, with very hot water from my urn (be careful). Remember to clean out the filter at the bottom, which I do with hot soapy water and a brush. It actually worked very well. This is an ongoing problem and wonder if and when the manufacturers will

ever relieve the machines of this nonsensical problem.
