Dahlias are native to Mexico and they like warm weather. Plant in June when the soil temp is warm. If you live in an area where it gets to freezing in the winter, you can dig up your dahlia tubers and store them in the garage. They will go dormant. Even if you just toss them out, dahlias provide a lot of flowers for the money!

Hi AnnMarie. You can plant them after all danger of frost is gone.
Ideally they should be started indoors and planted outside after all danger of frost has passed
I would recommend to plant in the early spring after the danger of frost is gone as the previous Hometalker suggested! Most things survive with the TLC after the dangers of it freezing or frost in the early spring!
