Sounds like the tree needs water, water, water.
Most shrubs and trees should be planted in the fall So they can develop a good root base. Make sure you deep water them at least twice a week. Just turn the hose on a slow drip and let it run for a couple of hours. If they survive the hot summer, then you’re good to go.
Hope you didn't plant that maple tree close to the house, cause maple trees will tear up your foundation. As long as some leaves are alive it will survive.
What was the temperature when the trees were planted? They could be in shock. How did you plant the trees? http://blog.davey.com/2017/05/newly-planted-tree-leaves-turning-brown-yellow-or-wilting-try/
Sounds like transplant shock. Keep the trees well watered and water often throughout the summer. Keep an eye out for new buds/shoots/leaves. This is an indication that the roots have adjusted and are doing their job.
