When you have a really messy house how is the best way to start clean?
It's really a mess, gone through some stuff and I let everything get away from me, it's hard to know where to start?????

- Deeon May 24, 2018start with one room at a time. clean out the clutter, do the 3 box thing, save, throw away and recycle at the thrift shop. Then start at the top of the room and work down as dust settles down. Dust, vacuum etc.HelpfulReply

- Nancy Turneron May 24, 2018I agree with the one room at a time, it just works better and you don't get so distracted by going to another room and can finish much quicker. Take a break between rooms, or even do one a day for larger rooms. When you see the first couple done, you will see how much easier it is to do and just what you can accomplish and how much better it is when it is done.HelpfulReply
- Diana Deileyon May 24, 2018I agree with Dee, start with one room. I personally use clear plastic storage containers with lids from Walmart. They can be labeled, stacked or stored in a cabinet, closet or under a bed. Rule #1, if you haven't worn it, used it, or no longer need it.....discard it or donate it. You'll be surprised how much room you'll have when you're done. YOU CAN DO THIS!!! Best of luck.HelpfulReply
- Hillela G.on May 24, 2018One room at a time, and you have to be so disciplined, once you assign something a place- don't allow yourself to put it down somewhere else "just for now" it becomes second nature after a while but in the beginning its so tough to not just push it off. We've all been there I think. You got this!!! As you go, ask per specific room for advice here on the forum- we're in this with you!!!HelpfulReply
- Ellison May 24, 2018One room at a time. Use three boxes, one for things to keep, one for things to donate, and one for trash. Be ruthless! This is my toughest job, too, because I always think I can use something that's still good. Then I don't use it--so I've learned to donate so someone else can enjoy it.HelpfulReply
