Throw a desk in there or some type of work surface, some storage solutions (shelves w/baskets, a dresser, etc...) fill it up with your junk!
I'm just doing a room of the same size as an office/guest room just slightly larger. I would start by making a list of what you will need in the room and what you want to do in the room. What will you need storage for? Closed storage or open shelves? What kind of work furniture will you need, ie. sewing table, work bench? How large does it need to be? What surface is best to work on? Do you need access to all sides or do you sit in one place like at a desk? What kind of lighting do you need? If the room is carpeted, would it be best to change the flooring that won't be damaged? Make a diagram of your room with measurements of the walls, spaces from windows to corners or doors. Make note of the size of the windows. That way you know how big the furniture can be. Figure out where your storage zone will be as well as your work zone. You might gather all your supplies and separate them into piles/stacks to see how much space you need for each type of supply. Also separate by what you need most often and what can be stored further away from the work area/table. Do you have room for a comfy chair, tv or anything else you want in the room? Then, look for furniture (new or used) that will meet your needs. You will enjoy being in a space that is coordinated and pretty, even if it is a work space. Choose furniture that has the kind of storage you need and is the right size. In a small space you will have more room for things if you use wall or closet space. Once you have furniture picked out, pick a paint color and accessory colors. Paint and put in any new flooring. Then, make your purchases and put the room together.
