How is this removed and replaced? IT is four feet from NEAREST WALL.
I ASSUME THE BASEBOARD WILL NEED TO BE TAKEN UP.?

Is weighting it with a large piece of furniture an option? I'd want to try a few things before having to replace it.
Sounds like the floor layer did not allow for expansion, so it buckled. Yes, probably have to take the baseboard up to see that there is a space there.
