Hello Becky, Here is a link for DIY farmhouse curtains for those who are budget minded by using bedsheets (even though you did NOT request how to do it on a budget) ;) https://musthavemom.com/farmhouse-style-cheap-curtains-diy-no-sew-curtains-for-5/
Here is a link about using drop cloths ;)

and last, but not least, is a link that has 6 different types of farmhouse curtains to see, although it isn't a DIY site, but it might give you some ideas ;) https://littlevintagenest.com/transitioning-farmhouse-decor-budget-friendly-shopping-guide/
Thanks for using Hometalk for suggestions. Good Luck
Here's a how to! https://littlevintagenest.com
Becky, I don't know if there is a "farmhouse style" per se, but if you want something that looks more homespun or handmade, I would do the following:
1. Collect old fabrics/curtains with old fashioned designs that were traditionally for kitchens..like pots...clocks...food..seed packets..rooster and other animals..etc.
2. Use any fabric with a heavy weave, like burlap, linen or cotton
3. Use hand stitching or large machine basting stitches that look hand sewn
4. Use old fashioned trims like rick rack or pom poms or cross stitched embroidery
I will be oh so glad when this farm house thing ends.iowa is one of the top agricultural states, I have never seen farm house like those on a certain tv show. If it’s a style you truly like, ok. If you are doing it because its in and trendy...”in and trendy“ will change as the latest and greatest comes a long.
Trends do change, but at least curtains are pretty simple to change.
