There are deterrents that are non toxic found in nature to protect your garden and fend off nibblers. Contact some of the Agricultural colleges for free information in your area....or you closest garden center. Sprays like fox urine and other predators can be purchased online if you find out what works in your area.
Rabbits and gophers burrow so unless you put your fencing under the soil your garden is still vulnerable to hungry critters.
