Plant in a hill as u would potatoes.
You don't have to hill them as everyone says you should. I don't. I plant them like a normal plant along side my chain link fence so that it moves up onto the fence and doesn't take up the garden and start growing on other plants.
I have used a fence, trellis and a tomato cage.
I just take the end of a hoe or rake and drag it straight down my garden to make a row, then put the seeds in and throw some dirt on them. They are already 3" high. I plant mine about a hands length apart, because I hate thinning them. Time to put up the poles and string. They really don't like growing on the ground. There leaves get too wet and they start to yellow.
I always plant the bush variety. I simply plant them in the ground after working in some mushroom compost. Always yields a plentiful crop. Enjoy :)
