basicaly, seam binding on the edges you’ve seen the little carpet samples yes? Some sewing machines can handle it. I have also used hot glue guns to keep the edges of the carpet from unraveling.
Yes I used a leather workers needle ( can’t recall the proper name) and twine to bind the edge.
You might want to just use Carpet Tape to Stick around the edges. Or use Carpet Fringe ( double tape with fringe) Slip the Carpet in between the tape and stitch Running stitch or better still back stitch (Like sewing machine)to go through top tape and Carpet and through bottom tape all around, or opposite ends . and Blanket stitch the other sides. You will need a Carpet Needle and a Thimble too, plus strong thread.
