Hi Lois, I would use Kilz on that stain. That should eliminate any chances of the stain bleeding thru. Best of luck to you.

Yes Kilz is a very good stain blocker but after it is on, you still need to use ceiling paint to get it to blend in and match the rest of the ceiling.

Yes, just like everyone else use Kilz and use a thick nappy roller cover to apply it with and then you can paint it, again using a thick roller cover. God luck.
I dab the stains with a cotton ball soaked with Clorox then let dry a day. It takes the stain color out, then cover with ceiling paint. Been doing this on different ceilings for years. Inexpensive and has always worked.
I have had success with 1/2 water mixed with 1/2 Clorox in a spray bottle. Spray on ceiling if not gone by next day repeat until it is.
