what is under the carpet
Pull it up and see what’s under there! then put something else down on the floor.
cut the carpet into strips with a utility knife. roll and bag. take out any padding the same way. there may be tack strips on the perimeter floor. if you want carpet back in the bath.. leave them. if you want tile or lino remove them. my personal choice having to deal w/ carpet in a bath...linoleum or other sheet goods.
If budget is an issue I know lots of people have been removing their carpets and just living with the sub floor beneath them. You can paint it or even stain it until you can afford new flooring to put over the top. Here are some images from google image search.
