How do you get rid of sink/drain flies?
I would like to know how to get rid those pesty little sink/drain flies. I've tried baking soda and vinegar, drain cleaners and put plastic over the drains.
gnat trap. mayo jar, plastic wrap. add a splash of vinegar or a rotting piece of fruit to the jar or vinegar, cover with cling style plastic wrap. make a gnat sized hole in the plastic. they go in for a treat don't come out.
fly trap, mayo jar, small piece of hamburger. make a paper cone, put in jar. they go in for a snack can't get out.
If you happen to drink wine, leave a little in the bottom and take a sticky note, form it into a cone shape with a small opening in the small end....put the small end into the top of the bottle...if you don't drink, use any small necked bottle with a little juice or vinegar in the bottom of it. Place it close to where you see the most bugs. Great for fruit flies, too. Hope it helps.
Small bowels with a tablespoon of Dawn soap and apple cider vinegar doesn’t take a lot. place them where you see the knats! You should see dead ones very soon. Rinse and repeat until you no longer see them! Also if you have houseplants! This is a good source of knats. Mix a tablespoon of dawn soap in a quart spray bottle. Spray the soil all around your plants. I also use this mixture as an insectisidal soap on all my plants that I bring back in for the winter. Spray them 24 hours before bringing back in your house. And spray all leaves underneath as well.
If you have gnats something in your house is attracting them. Remove the problem and they will be gone. Do you have any food out? Do you have dirty dishes? Do you have something that spilled between them the bag and the garbage can? Is your outside garbage close to your outside door you use to come and go? Are your toilets clean? Do you have pet food out? are the pet food bowls cleaned regulary? Worse case senario, could be drain flies. Pour some bleach down your drains.
This might work on gnats; it for sure works on those little flying pests around house plants. Add some water to a white dinner plate, add a few drops of lemon Joy, set near where gnats or other pests congregate. Empty plate when you have caught quite a few bugs, then refill and repeat until they're all gone. Does it have to be lemon and does it have to be Joy? I don't know; that's what I was told to use so I did because I had some.
